I decided to do the Malin to Mizen cycle this year on a bit of whim, having recently taking up triathlons and finding myself with a week’s holidays to take in September.
Not wanting to undertake the venture solo, I managed to cajole two friends into taking part. It turns out I would have had nothing to worry about -from the get-go the whole group really bonded and everyone was so friendly, relaxed and chatty.
I was a little bit apprehensive on day 1 about the actual cycling element, having not done a lot of long distance cycling. Again I had nothing to worry about. While some of the days were challenging there was a total mix of abilities from the beginners right up to the elites and we could rest assured that the even the rugby lads felt it on the hills!
I cannot say enough good things about the level of organisation and the backroom staff, the only thing we had to worry about all week was cycling (and the occasional few social beverages!)
All in all, I had a fantastic week and I am looking forward to 2014 already!
